Cockle Bay Residents & Ratepayers Association
Who We Are
The Cockle Bay Residents & Ratepayers Association is a long-established, community-based organisation led by an elected committee of members. We're a group of local residents who care about where we live, working together to look after the people and places that make it special. Whether you've lived here for decades or just moved in, we hope you'll get involved.
What We Do
At the heart of our work is representing the Cockle Bay community in its dealings with the Howick Local Board, Auckland Council, and associated organisations. We represent and speak collectively on behalf of ratepayers and residents, and provide a forum for local citizens to debate proposals from Auckland Council and allied institutions. We engage on resource consents, planning proposals, “Have Your Say” submissions and consultations, and anything else that affects the character and fabric of our community. We make formal submissions, and assist residents with queries when dealing with Council. We are active, and for some of us, very involved, in supporting those working on restoration of the walkways at Cockle Bay Beach. If you've got ideas or energy to spare, we'd love to hear from you.
Beyond advocacy, there are times when the community gets together to roll up our sleeves and take care of things more directly. We take on projects big and small, and we're always looking for new ways to make Cockle Bay a better place. If you've got ideas or energy to spare, we'd love to hear from you.

Who can be a member?
Membership is open to anyone, with the subscription covering a full family. However, membership of the Committee is only open to paid up members who reside in what is loosely termed the Cockle Bay area, which the Association exists to support. This area is can be loosely defined as including the seaward side of the Litten and Sandspit Roads ridge line down to the sea; Cockle Bay Road and adjacent roads, and roads adjacent to the east-west part of Sandspit Road. The Constitution provides for inclusion of adjacent areas, and traditionally we have included the landward side of Litten Road and adjacent roads when publicising our activities or responding to queries from members.
