In Memoriam: Grant Taylor

It is with deep sadness that we wish to inform members of the death of Grant Taylor on 27 August 2026, age 77, following a period of deteriorating health.

Grant Taylor

Grant was a member of the Cockle Bay Residents and Ratepayers Association from at least 1981. In addition to being a committee member for many years, Grant was Chair of the Association from 1996/7 and from 2000 to 2014, as well as Treasurer in some of the intervening years. During that time CBRRA was very active on a wide range of issues. After resigning as Chairman in 2014 Grant remained on the Committee and was able to bring to discussions his enormous background knowledge on a wide range of issues. He will be missed.

More independently from CBRRA, Grant was involved in the “rates rebellion” of many years ago and was a candidate for the Auckland Regional Authority.

In addition to his community work with CBRRA, Grant was also involved in a number of other community projects and groups. In collaboration with the Scouts he helped organise water safety events at the beach. Whilst with Lions he was active in the Howick Village Lights Festival. He truly exemplified a man with a strong heart for the community, and will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. Our condolences to his wife, Annette; his three children (now adults) and five grandchildren.
