Why is it a problem?

This rapidly growing, invasive vine crowds out desirable native plants and has spread across the Auckland region. It develops large green pods which contain hundreds of parachute-like, airborne seeds. Large pods can contain up to 1000 seeds. These seeds can remain dormant in the soil for up to 7 years before growing.

What can be done about it?

To remove moth plant yourself please follow these steps:

1. Remove all pods.

2. Cut the vine near the ground, leaving a small stump.

3. Apply herbicide gel to the stump.
